Everyone who has an AC sump pump should protect their basement with a backup system.
Eventually all AC sump pumps fail. The culprits are:
- Power Outage: If power fails, your AC sump pump can’t turn on; a backup sump pump uses battery power to activate during a power outage.
- Primary Pump Failure: All primary sump pumps eventually will fail after years of use. Battery backup sump pumps automatically begin pumping when your AC pump quits on you.
- Stuck Float Switch: If the float switch on your primary pump sticks, rising water in your sump pit automatically will activate the battery backup system.
- Extreme Influx of Water: If the primary sump pump can’t keep up with the water volume during intense storms, the battery backup will activate to assist the AC pump.
A backup pump is an inexpensive insurance policy, eliminating the headaches, cost, and health hazards associated with a flooded basement.
