Yes, if/when water reaches the battery backup pump‘s Dual Float Switch, because:
- power is interrupted so the AC pump can’t run
- the AC pump fails
- the AC pump’s float has an issue and it doesn’t turn on the pump
- more water is coming into the sump pit than the primary pump can handle
