The controller for the Basement Watchdog Big Dog CONNECT (Model BWD12-120) provides crucial, 24-hour-a-day monitoring of pump, power and battery conditions, ensuring your sump pump is ready to protect. The easy-to-understand controller detects issues, sounds an alarm, alerts visually, and shows problems and solutions on the front panel. It also monitors the power level of your battery.

The control box automatically monitors the system, and should the power go out or the main sump pump fail, the battery backup sump pump will take over to keep your basement dry.

The Basement Watchdog Big Dog CONNECT (Model BWD12-120) battery backup sump pump is equipped with an automatic, multi-stage, 20-Amp charger that keeps the battery fully charged and ready to go, plus it’s compatible with our maintenance-free battery as well as wet-cell batteries. If your main pump fails, the charger is strong enough to power the pump directly off wall power, allowing for unlimited runtime.

A float switch is the component of your sump system that turns on the pump. All the Basement Watchdog battery backup sump pump systems and the backup pumps that are part of our combination systems use the super reliable Dual Float Switch to activate the pump.
The pump discharge is the plumbing, typically 1½-inch PVC pipe, that carries the water out of the house or building, away from the pump and sump pit.
The pump housing is the outer casing of the pump that encloses the pump motor.
An impeller is a rotating disk that has blades, or vanes, which move the water using centrifugal force up and out through the discharge pipe.
A strainer is a filtration device, built into the base of Basement Watchdog pumps, which prevents the intake of objects that can harm the internal components of a pump.
Pump Flow @ 10 Feet (GPH) is a measure of the amount of water (gallons per hour) that a pump can move through a 10-foot vertical discharge pipe before the water exits the home or building.
Max head is the maximum vertical height a pump can push water straight up against gravity. It is the point at which gravity takes over the outflow in the discharge.
